helena sheridan  | curator | director

H has challenged the status quo for as long as she’s felt the rash of its rub against her white African skin. after completing a diploma in Public Relations (Media Studies and Event Management) at CPUT her career quickly turned from corporate to what we can only describe as rather unique. she has an eccentric list of ambitious past projects under her toolbelt, including but not limited to: building junk rafts and cruising down the Rio Ebro in the name of conservation; working on festival production crews on four continents (usually in dusty, far off places) and growing and nurturing a crew from ‘a bunch of cowboys’ to a multi-departmental, council-run, well-oiled machine. as a freelance marketing and social media manager she has more than a decade’s experience in industries as diverse as food and wine, SANParks and security… 

her passions include curating productive systems; creative and innovative solutions; the law of least effort and spider diagrams. she has been selected as a (r)evolutionary in the first cohort of the Buckminster Fuller Institute’s current Design Science Decade.

kristy derbyshire | networker | director

after completing her studies in Marketing Management, Kristy dedicated the next 10 years of her life to volunteering abroad in roles ranging from youth development, to procurement and project management. this experience has taken her as wide as the U.K, Israel and rural Mozambique, all of which has cultivated a great ability to adapt to diversity. 
during the hard lockdown of the covid-19 pandemic in South Africa, it became apparent that many individuals and organisations at a grassroots level were facing issues both in starting new projects, and seeing these projects come to fruition. she identified that a diverse and multi-functional platform was required which would enable individuals and organisations to launch new projects, gain exposure and realise their goals.
using the skills and networks gained through years of volunteerism and project management, she established Platform together with Helena and Barry.

barry micheals | moral compass | director

B is a graphic designer, finished artist and photolithographer. extensive experience in production and project management have complemented and added depth to his overall ability in the design, public relations, marketing, events and advertising sectors. his spiritual and culinary journeys have influenced his love for beautiful and meaningful things and creative solutions.

Barry is a guru – a wealth of knowledge, a pillar of strength and an island of calm in a sea of chaos. he designs, he plans and he ponders the box – inside and out.
